Thousands Gather at Horsham Family Music Festival

The Big Gig - Sat 24th June - Horsham Sports Club

The crowds swarmed into the grounds of Horsham Sports Club this Saturday afternoon for a fantastic day celebrating live music at The Big Gig '17 music festival.

Over 2,400 music fans of all ages gathered together with family and friends and the atmosphere was electric. Horsham was ready to party and did us proud with such a happy community spirit and enthusiasm.

Spoilt for choice with the array of talented musicians and bands, there was something to suit all tastes. Local lads JOE90 kicked off the line up with a flawless set of Brit-pop and rock classics followed by the renowned 'No Jacket Required' Phil Collins tribute band, who got everyone up on the dance floor with classics such as 'Easy Lover' and 'Two Hearts'. Things started hotting up when the Take That Experience whipped Horsham into a frenzy with hands in the air, singalong classics and energetic dance routines. Locally famous favourites The Blunter Brothers, a sensational ten piece funk, soul and motown band with a six strong brass section, delivered a seamless set including Stevie Wonder classics, James Brown and a crowd jumping Bruno Mars medley.  The night rose to a lively crescendo with the arrival of headliners Swede Dreamz, the amazingly accurate ABBA Tribute Act with their authentic performance of their most loved songs. Meticulously capturing the essence and humour of the famous Swedish quartet, Horsham received their superb set with open arms, spectacular singing and festival spirit.

"What a day!" recalled musician and festival co-coordinator Dave Baxter of the fabulous Blunter Brothers. "The crowd were on-board...everyone was up for a party and we could feel the excitement on stage".

Glitter and sparkle filled the afternoon with fabulously festive face painting from Beauty and the Rest. Deliciously tempting street food ran all day and into the night supplied by some of Horsham market favourites, Ginger Rookes, Steak Expectations, and the gorgeous Khao with her delicious Thai creations, plus many more.

Horsham Sports Club were thrilled with the turn out and are already thinking ahead to next year.  Chris Wassell, Chairman of Horsham Sports club tells us,  "we're delighted with the support and community spirit that was present at this years festival and we're looking forward to next year with the return of The Big Gig '18, which promises to be bigger and better than ever".
