HORSHAM CRICKET CLUB NEWSLETTER MAY 2022
Presidents Day Sunday 26th June
We would love everyone to come along to Presidents day on 26th June for a day of celebration to mark our 250th anniversary and to honour the memory of our late president, David Horsman. David was looking forward to hosting this day but will be here in spirit and his wife Susan will be our guest of honour. It gives us the opportunity to bring together our sponsors, benefactors and players past and present.
The format of the day will be 3 x T10 matches on the main ground starting at 11am featuring Chris Nash X1, Sussex League X1 and Horsham X1. We have a junior fixture in the morning and a women’s league match in the afternoon on the JDG. The Sussex cricket foundation are also bringing their roadshow with fun activities for our younger visitors. Something for everyone.
The bar, beer garden and La Creperie will be open all day and there are limited spaces available to join the lunch party in the gallery @ £20pp (please email accounts@horshamsportsclub.com if you are interested)
There will be a raffle and other fundraising activities during the day.
We hope to see you all on 26th June.
TEAM NEWS
Seniors
The season has started well for all our mens teams, the first X1 are currently 5th in the premier division and there have been strong performances from the 2nds & 3rds.
Our overseas player, Ben Lister arrived from New Zealand this month and has settled in well with the teams and is proving to be a popular coach with the juniors especially the U9 age group who have also had first team players Manav Parekh and Ollie Haines helping them.
The women won their first match in the Womens Sussex Slam vs West Chiltington. The winning team shown here in their new match shirts sponsored by Gardiner & Scardifield and navy trousers- the new playing kit for all our womens and girls teams.
Juniors
All the age groups have started very strongly this season and our newest team, the U9’s secured their first win against Wisborough Green winning by 30 runs. Their enthusiasm and willingness to win was outstanding.
All results both junior and senior can be found on playcricket and we also post regular updates, pictures and news on twitter @horshamcc
