Congratulations to Horsham’s Women’s Cricketers as they retain the Sussex T20 Club League Title!
On Saturday 7th September, Horsham Women retained their Sussex Club T20 Title.
With a 100% win rate in the group stages over the summer, Horsham booked their place in the Sussex Cricket Foundation Finals day, held at The Aldridge Academy, Brighton.
A semi-final against Ansty was a closely fought and tense match. Horsham set a target of 128, Hannah Phelps scoring 33 not out, Keira Lewzey 22 not out, and Izi Noakes 20. Ansty chased total all the way to the last ball needing a 5. Only 1 run was scored and Horsham won by 4 runs.
This set up a final against Brighton and Hove, who had beaten Bognor in their semi-final. Brighton and Hove won the toss and elected to bat. Unfortunately Brighton weren’t able to produce anything like their 130 total they had scored in the semi-final, and Horsham bowled them all out for 43.
Hannah Phelps taking 3 wickets for 12 runs. Izi Noakes 2 wickets for 10, and Lottie Jeffreys 1 wicket of 0.
In reply Horsham reached the target in 6 overs. Molly Beadle scoring 30 not out and Hannah Phelps 9 not out (8 extras).
So Horsham Women retain the T20 Title and look forward to defending it again in 2020.
Thanks so much to Tessa Walder for this report, and to all the coaches for their fantastic effort this season.
